apoBank sells its subsidiary dgnservice GmbH

Based on its decision to strengthen its focus on its core business, Deutsche Apotheker- und Ärztebank (apoBank) has agreed to sell all its shares in dgnservice GmbH to the e-health expert FREY ADV GmbH (FREY). Founded in 1997 by apoBank, dgnservice GmbH is a provider of network solutions for academic health professionals in the German health care sector. dgnservice GmbH also operates the leading intranet portal for physicians, the DGN German health care network.

As part of its strategic realignment, apoBank is systematically examining its structures and processes as well as its investment portfolio. With a view to concentrating more on its core competences, the Bank has decided to find a new partner for its subsidiary dgnservice, the leading IT service provider in the health care sector.

Thanks to its technical expertise and long-term experience in the market, FREY is ideally positioned to advance dgnservice in the interest of our customers. The sale paves the way for dgnservice to become a first-rate provider of DP solutions in the health care sector," says Stefan Mühr, Director of apoBank.

As a top brand in the Frey group, dgnservice will be involved in a wide scope of business activities in future. "The GUSbox as a complete solution for data communication goes perfectly with dgnservice's reliable internet connection using signature applications," explains Armin Flender, dgnservice's new managing director in conjunction with Dirk Fellenberg. Other products and services such as online data protection, legally binding documentation and archiving as well as the electronic doctor's letter are in the pipeline. The target group comprises more than 12,000 medical professionals in the Association of Independent Software Companies in the Health Care Sector (GUS) and over 15,000 dgnservice customers.

apoBank will retain its business ties with dgnservice in future. In particular, dgnservice will continue to be a strategic partner of medisign, the leading provider of signature cards in the health care sector. apoBank has a 50% share in medisign, a joint venture with PVS (Association of Private Medical Clearing Centres). The signature card for financial service providers as well as health care-related functions and the issuance of the Health Professional Card will remain important areas of business for apoBank.
